You’ve stumbled upon the about page of DUI - this could get interesting. Anyways, DUI was established in July 2008 by myself (AJ of astereo) as my personal blog and resource to vent and share my thoughts on design and development topics and ideas. Many of the posts here are unfiltered, meaning I’m going to say what I have to say regardless of how others might take it. Please excuse the language use, as sometimes I do get a little out of #^%*@$ out of control.

DUI stands for designing under the influence, because like it or not, each of us is influenced by someone or something in our design and lifestyles.

So why exactly is this called DUI? To be honest, I really don’t know. I wanted a creative and original name, but something that could still have design in it. Let me tell you, it’s hard to find any domains left with design in them that make any bit of sense. So then I decided I’d go the initial route, and DUI came to mind. DUI stands for designing under the influence, because like it or not, each of us is influenced by someone or something in our design and lifestyles. The purpose of DUI is for me to be as clear and pure with all my articles as I can be, because they are a reflection of my true thoughts on issues and topics.

What Can I Expect?

At DUI, you can expect to get 100% fresh, homegrown articles and design / development commentary that you won’t find anywhere else in the world. I’m also going to work hard to get exclusive interviews that are only DUI worthy. Plus, I have some special DUI only features planned out including “Exposure”, so you’ll have to wait and see.

Can I write for DUI?

If you are interested in writing for DUI, that’s awesome. It would be beneficial if I could put together a team of 4 or 5 solid writers who are looking for an outlet to discuss design and development topics to a mass audience as opposed to just on a blog.
