If you do business online or have a website you may be hearing this buzz word going around ’search engine optimisation’ and wondering what it is. If you are being asked to optimise your web site to get more traffic on it and are in a quandary. Well then here is some straight forward search engine optimisation advice. First, are you totally dependent on your website for your business? Has your business started to suffer because of lesser traffic to your web site? If this is correct, then it’s time to look into search engine optimisation. But before you go of looking for a computer nerd/geek to optimise your web site, examine the reasons for reduced traffic on your web site.

Maybe the contents of your web site are outdated. Perhaps the page is taking too long to load. Or the demand for your products has tapered off. If this is the case then search engine optimisation is not going to help. So examining the reasons for your web site is your first priority. If your web site appears on the first page of a search engine and yet there is no traffic. Well then the opening summary lines are not attracting traffic. Any search engine optimisation is not going to help here. From my personal experience I know that if the content in the summary is what I am looking for I will open the site, else I will ignore it. So before jumping into search engine optimisation examine your web site.
