DUI Daily: 7/29/08 general

Finally the wheels are turnin’! I’m trying to make this a pretty big week for DUI in terms of new content, so the posts may come at a much higher frequency than they’ve been coming so far in DUI’s short history. Make sure you’ve subscribed to the feed to stay up to date with everything that’s going on. Anyways, let’s get to today’s edition of DUI Daily. While yesterday was a bit more focused, today is a bunch of random stuff from all different sources. We’ll call it confetti.

We’ll kick things off with a pretty cool site I discovered on QBN / Newstoday. It’s called Lushpad. It’s about time someone launches a Marketplace that isn’t all about getting jobs or selling web designs. No, Lushpad is different. Lushpad is about buying and selling modern furniture and accessories. It’s a pretty neat concept and the site design is very nice.

Remember the list article from last week? If you didn’t check it out yet, you should. Speaking of lists, are example list-master site Smashing Magazine put out another one, this time 50 kick ass female illustrations. Some excellent illustrations in there, you should definitely check them out. Now it’s up to me to try and snag some interviews from some of these illustrators.

Monday’s suck. We all know that. This Monday inspiration post over at Elitebydesign.com offers up some suggestions to cure your Monday morning inspiration blocks. Of course, DUI wasn’t featured, but it probably should have been.

Devlounge has released a list of common and uncommon ad sizes as a follow-up to a post from last week on the rise of unique ad sizes. I’ve always thought who gives a shit about IAB standards. Why should you, as the designer, but limited to what you can do only to make certain ads fit? Your thoughts?
