Happy Tuesday everyone! I’ve spent some time today making some cosmetic site tweaks, which I’ll go over briefly at the end of today’s daily dose. I thought I would start today off with a rather odd and random message I received today in regards to the Market Theme site sale:
“hi im at the computer always i lost my job and no one call me i just need little money if we can be partner i will be happy i dont have money i search one person to help i will help you to grow your buisness dont sell it ! i live in canada quebec and i speack french”
Yes, that’s actually how the message looked - typos and lots of oddness included. Sorry, but I just can’t take requests like those seriously, especially when you sound like that.
Anyways, on to the daily!
Top Ten Web Typography Sins - via SmashingMagazine
SM puts together a list of ten common “sins” when it comes to writing content. I commit a few of these, but I’m not going to put the damn html equivalent every time I want to make a dash.
12 Ways to Improve Your Website Design - via Observin
Most of them are fairly obvious, but regardless I like to feature items that could help out both readers and visitors. Check this out if you’re looking for some quick inspiration and for whatever reason DUI isn’t cutting it for you today.
As I mentioned (and as you probably noticed by now) I’m in the midst of cleaning up the site and spicing it up here and there. I brought back one of the old old banners previously used on Devlounge by Dave from Overage4Design. I’m a big fan of featuring all kinds of illustrations - and even though this one technically isn’t fresh, it adds a splash of color to the page and will work for now. If you want to add an image to the featured illustration spot, just let me know. We can put together an interview and get some proper promotion out there for you in exchange.
You’ll also notice that in the right sidebar on the homepage there is now a location for featured posts. These are manually updated by me, as to which articles I believe need more focus and deserve to be read. Check them out if for whatever reason you haven’t yet.
There are various small improvements still to come throughout the week. Stay tuned.
