A content management system (CMS) is the system of creation, edition and management of many types of digital media and the electronic text. Basically there are three groups of CMS, according to their respective domains including Enterprise CMS, We CMS and Component CMS.
There are various features of the content management systems which make them very significant. This system identifies all the key users and the roles of the content management. In other words, it assigns the roles to different types of content categories. CMS also defines the workflow of tasks and it helps the content managers to get alert to changes in content through event messaging. One essential feature of CMS is that it tracks and controls the multiple versions of the content. It also allows the access to the content by publishing the content.
Moreover, it also sets the layout automatically by setting the colour and fonts. One form of content management system is the digital asset management which facilitates the ingestion, annotation, storage and retrieval of the digital assets. For example, the digital assets like digital photographs, videos and the music can be managed through this system. Therefore, CMS is commonly used in various organisations.
